Aston celebrates anniversaries in the best way

Leave it to Aston Martin to make special models worth celebrating. The British marque famous for its sports cars and secret spy affiliation celebrated the 60th anniversary of its convertible “Volante” nameplate by creating two special versions of the Vanquish and DB12 with the help of its bespoke “Q” division.

The most powerful of the two is the Vanquish Volante, powered by an incredible 5.2L V12 twin-turbo engine that produces around 823 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque. Such astounding power means a top speed of 214 mph and a 0 to 60 mph time of just 3.4 seconds. Those looking for the perfect combination of passenger space and blinding speed can opt for the DB12 Volante 2+2, powered by a 4.0L V8 twin-turbo. Despite being down four cylinders, the DB12 is no slouch, making approximately 670 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. That uncompromising balance allows it to reach a top speed of 202 mph and a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds.

Speed is great and all, but look at it!

Outside of sheer performance, the two special edition models benefit from stunning design choices befitting a vehicle from the renowned British automaker. Both are finished in Q Pentland Green paint with a Q Westminster Green hood, and anodised bronze accents on the vaned grille, side strakes, and even the unique 21″ Q wheels.

The cabin is finished in a stunning tri-tone colorway, made up of Centenary Saddle Tan, Ivory, and Woven leather. Several interior surfaces are meticulously finished in Dark Walnut Open Pore veneers, bronze touchpoints, and bespoke 60th Anniversary etched embroidery on the headrests. The backs of the front seats are also entirely finished in Dark Walnut, ensuring the rear passengers understand that they are in a quintessential bespoke Aston Martin.

“Volante is one of Aston Martin’s most evocative names, representing six decades of the ultimate open-top driving experience, said Jolyon Nash, Chief Commercial Officer at Aston Martin. “With the 60th Anniversary of Volante Editions, we’ve created a truly exclusive celebration of that legacy — bringing together the raw power of Vanquish Volante and the refined versatility of DB12 Volante in a way that speaks directly to our most discerning customers. These cars are the embodiment of rarity, performance, and craftsmanship that define Q by Aston Martin.”

Final thoughts

The Aston Martin Vanquish and DB12 were already neck-snappers from the get-go, but I am blown away by what the Q department has done once they got their hands on it. Not only is their exterior color an utterly brilliant choice for such a car, but to break it up with bronze accents placed among the body lines was a tremendous choice. Not to mention how terrific those wheels look, especially since they carry the same bronze accents used throughout. The cabin is equally astonishing, with the wood accents serving as perfect complements to the bronze finishes carried in from the outside. Special mentions go to the knurled bronze knobs and switches in the center console.

If you want your own slice of British engineering, we wish you the best of luck. Aston Martin states that these will be strictly limited to 60 examples of each model, with deliveries for the 60th Anniversary Volante Editions set to commence in Q4 2025. Those interested in commissioning one should apparently contact their local Aston Martin dealership. I imagine you would need to be a preferred Aston Martin customer to even have the chance of ordering one of these. Oh, how I wish that were me.
